Mission & Brief History
A faith-inspired foundation born from a mountaintop vision.
In 2019, during his annual Christmas retreat, brother Dennis Villegas, a lay missionary dedicated to a life of service, received an inspiration: a mountaintop road network interwoven with various structures. This vision ignited a year-long search that culminated on the Feast of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary with the discovery of the ideal land in Arakan, North Cotabato (on the border of Davao City and part of San Miguel Parish in Marahan, Davao City under the auspices of the Archdiocese of Davao. He named it “Dangpanan” (Cebuano term for a place of comfort) Center. The Lord's message, "Amid great darkness, He is calling men and women to be flickers of light and to build living bulwarks," resonated deeply. Brother Dennis understood his calling extended beyond physical structures to encompass a foundation dedicated to empowering youth, families, and communities through faith, renewal, mission, and environmental stewardship. Sharing his vision, he gathered friends to become lay collaborators and formed a foundation officially registered as Bulwark Project Foundation Inc. with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) on August 29, 2024.
The Bulwark Project Foundation Inc. is a faith-driven organization supporting youth, families, and communities facing limited resources, opportunities, and support. Inspired by its emblem, it calls participants to become “flickers of light,” using faith and hope to overcome challenges, and equips them to lead initiatives in justice, sustainability, and care for creation.
